Recently, fitness trends have taken the world by storm. Many people used to use workout DVDs or play on their Wii Fit, but now everyone is doing Zumba, Power-hooping and Boxer-sise. These new and inventive exercise regimes seem to be very popular, especially with women. Zumba has become so popular that even an X-box Kinect game called Zumba Dance has been released.

People are more likely to want to exercise if they find it enjoyable and fun. This is probably why Zumba and Power-hooping are so popular. If you try and stay fit by running in the park then you’ll know how hard it is to motivate yourself to go out for a run. If it’s cold outside or you’re tired , so many people talk themselves out of going for a run because they would much rather stay at home playing partypoker or Facebook games in the warm. However Zumba and Power-hooping are done indoors so there’s no excuse! But why is Zumba and Power-hooping so popular?

Zumba is a very sociable activity which people often do with their friends. It’s a low impact, fat burning exercise which also tones your muscles. It is less intense than sports like running which makes Zumna ideal for anyone with weak joints. Zumba can be done at any age or ability and the more you put into the routine, the more you get out of it. Plus, it is more like dancing than exercising which makes it enjoyable.

Power-hooping has also become a huge hit recently. Many women who want to tone their tummies and slim their waists are getting themselves Power-hoops and going along to hooping classes. Here, you don’t just hula-hoop. but you learn to dance and walk while hula-hooping. The hoops – which weigh around 4lbs – also help to strengthen your lower back and work your core muscles.
