Summer typically unleashes two things - bikini-clad women and the most awesome of the awesomest movies. This post exists for the latter.
Lets see: you have a Superheroes’ reunion, a fairy tale, Spidey gets re-bitten, Anne Hathaway as Cat Woman, and you find out there was never just one Jason Bourne. Its pretty goddamn exciting times, people. Here is the list of 10 action movies I’m definitely watching this summer.
1. Battleship
Why we’re exited: Supposedly base on Hasbro’s combat game with the same name, word has it there is nothing related to the board game . It looks more like Transformers and Battle LA mashup, with RiRi’s making her first appearance on the big screen. Explosions, robots, aliens and apocalypse, you can’t go wrong with this combination.
2. The Avengers
Why we’re exited: This one has been in Marvel’s book from day one. Since Iron Man’s 2008′s success, Marvel has slowly introduced its superheroes with The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011), Captain America: The First Avenger(2011) and with this movie it comes full circle. This is the ultimate crossover of super awesomeness, and it guarantees a hell lot of money.
3. Snow White and the Huntsman
Why we’re exited: This one looks like Snow White lost her way in middle-earth. Bella Swan and Thor kicking some serious fantasy asses. Should be an interesting one. The only problem in this movie – which we don’t think it is – the Queen is hotter than the princess.
4. Prometheus
Why we’re exited: Bunch of scientists journey out to space to find the origins of mankind – looks that we’re not cousins with the chimps – and found out the human race is about to get fucked. This is supposed to be the not-so-direct-prequel to Alien . Remember that nasty alien that burst out of a rib cage? I hope we have some of that.
5. Brave
Why we’re exited: I’m a sucker for Pixar’s gorgeous animations. I’ve watched Pixar’s every movie since the first Toy Story came out back in 1995, except Finding Nemo to reasons unknown. I swore not to miss the 3D version once it’s out. 6 Oscars from Pixar’s 12 film is no joke, that alone makes Brave deserves to be watched. This movie will have Pixar’s first princess, and Disney’s first feminist heroine. I’m in!
6. G.I. Joe: Retaliation
Why we’re exited: OK, the first one was not that good, it was kinda bad actually. So this can’t do worse right? right? Every summer there’s a movie everybody expect to perform but tanks or didn’t live up to expectations, this could be the one. Since my expectation is rock bottom, it could actually be a surprise must see.
7. Amazing Spiderman – July
Why we’re exited: Every few months there’s a Superhero movie releases, wonder why – they’re one unstoppable money shitting machine. Does it mean we’re tired of it? Hell no. This is Spidey’s reboot, this time with Andrew Garfield as the man behind the mask. You’d remember him for his role in The Social Network. Sony opt for a reboot with the same production team rather than another sequel to Tobey Maguire’s Spiderman. Good start by having Emma Stone as Spidey’s girl, i never like Kirsten Dunst.
8. Dark Knight Rises – July
Why we’re exited: Seriously?
9. The Bourne Legacy – August
Why we’re exited: How could you not like the Bourne series? Now there’s another Bourne. Jeremy Renner is good, but will he be able to match Matt Damon? Yea I think he is capable, he looks bad ass in the trailer.
10. Total Recall – August
Why we’re exited: Jessica Beil. Kate Beckinsale.
